Solitary to gregarious or clustered on burned soil; fairly common, fruiting in spring, widely distributed.
Unknown.
Plicaria endocarpoides can be distinguished by a smooth to wrinkled, dark brown hymenium, smooth to warty roughened, paler brown external surface, and smooth, globose spores. It is most likely to be confused with Peziza species, but they have ellipsoid spores.
