Chlorociboria aeruginosa
Mycologia 49(6): 859. 1957.
Common Name: none
Synonym: Chlorosplenium aeruginosum (Oeder) De Not.
For descriptions see Ramanurthi et al. & Dixon.
Scattered to gregarious on wood; the wood usually stained blue-green by the mycelium of the fungus.
Much too small to be considered!
Chlorociboria aeruginosa can easily be confused with its close relative, Chlorociboria aeruginascens. Chlorociboria aeruginosa tends to be a little smaller and have a centrally attached stipe rather than a laterally attached stipe. The only consistantly reliable differentiation is the larger spores of Chlorociboria aeruginosa: 9-15 X 1.4-2.8 µm versus 5-8 X 0.7-2.8 µm for Chlorociboria aeruginascens.
