Solitary or in small groups in duff under Monterey cypress (Hesperocyparis macrocarpa); uncommon, fruiting from late fall to early spring from Monterey County northward to the Marin County.
Unknown.
Leucoagaricus cupresseus can be distinguished by a tomentose, pinkish brown to dark reddish brown cap, free, white gills, a cylindrical to bulbous, white stipe with a persistent white annulus, and tissues that conspicuously bruise orangish red then darken in age.
